Steven Matz is certainly a tough act to follow and when you are Jon Niese, the pitcher Mets fans can't wait to get rid of, well, let's just say the excitement level will be down a few million notches from Sunday.
But really, when it comes to the Mets' future, Niese's start Tuesday vs. the Cubs could be just as important as Matz' start on Sunday.
For some reason, the Cubs and Dodgers have interest in trading for Niese, and will certainly have their eyes on him Tuesday. If he melts down after a Wilmer Flores error, or starts walking the park or gets torched, not only will the offensively inept Mets likely lose, you have to figure the trade market will dry up, too.
