Tim Tebow’s minor league Mets season ends in sad development

Tim Tebow’s time on the diamond is over — for now.

The Mets’ Heisman-winner-turned-minor-league-outfielder will miss the rest of Triple-A Syracuse’s season, according to Newsday. Tebow has been on the injured list since late July after suffering a deep cut on his left pinky that required eight stitches.

It’s been a trying third year in professional baseball for the 32-year-old former quarterback, who is hitting .163 with four home runs and 98 strikeouts in 77 games.

Last season Tebow made the Eastern League All-Star Game when he hit .273/.336/.399 in 84 games for Double-A Binghamton, which was also cut short after the lefty swinging former quarterback broke a bone in his right hand.
