Alonso swatted homer No. 27 on Sunday to break Darryl Strawberry’s team rookie record, but the Mets lost 5-3 to the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
“I’m proud of it, but I wish we would have won today,” said Alonso, who hit a solo blast against Cole Hamels in the fourth inning that gave the Mets their first run. “It was a tough loss today.
