These eight brutal losses helped doom the Mets

Here’s a look at eight of the Mets’ worst losses of the season, which helped doom their playoff chances:

May 19: The Mets are shut out by the woeful Marlins for a second straight day, 3-0, and get swept in three games at Miami. The loss is the Mets’ fifth straight, pushing them five games below .500, fueling speculation manager Mickey Callaway will be fired.

May 29: Joc Pederson and Max Muncy each homer against Edwin Diaz, leading a four-run Dodgers’ outburst in the ninth to sink the Mets, 9-8, in Los Angeles.
