A look back at how the Mets became ensnared in the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal:

Nov. 1: Carlos Beltran is hired as the Mets’ new manager, replacing Mickey Callaway.

Nov. 12: The Athletic reports the Astros used electronic surveillance to illegally steal signs from opposing catchers in 2017. Beltran, an Astros player at the time, denies involvement. “I’m not aware of that camera,” Beltran tells The Post in a text message exchange. “We were studying the opposite team every day.”

Nov. 13: Beltran doubles down on his innocence, texting The Post, “There’s nothing illegal about studying your opposite team.
