The New York Mets are looking for creative ways to trade bad contracts

According to a report from MLB Trade Rumors quoting Ken Rosenthal and The Athletic, the New York Mets are looking for creative ways to shed payroll. The idea is to gain some financial flexibility this offseason.

The team decided to tender contracts to all eight of their arbitration-eligible players. They are Noah Syndergaard, Michael Conforto, Marcus Stroman, Brandon Nimmo, Robert Gsellman, Seth Lugo, Edwin Diaz, and Steven Matz.

Some of those players are about to get expensive, and while the contract of Zack Wheeler is off the books, the Mets are allegedly looking to trade costly players.
