A year ago, the Mets made one of the first big splashes of the offseason and signed Rockies slugger Michael Cuddyer to a two-year, $21 million contract.
On paper, the outfielder looked like some much-needed power for the Amazin’s, coming off of three years in Colorado where he hit .307/.362/.505 with 46 home runs.
On the field, however, the 36-year-old childhood friend of David Wright was a bust.

Cuddyer played 117 games with the Mets, hitting just .269/.309/.391 and 10 home runs on a team that featured outfield variations of Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Darrell Ceciliani and Eric Campbell for much of the summer.
