The Mets turned down a trade for Andrew McCutchen that was centered around outfielder Brandon Nimmo, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The reason for the Mets backing out is said to be their fondness of Nimmo’s five years of control and the potential they see in him.
One of Nimmo’s most coveted skills is his ability to work the count and draw walks, as evidenced by his .379 on-base percentage and 15.3 walk percentage, the latter ranked 10th in baseball among all players with 200 or more plate appearances.
