Mickey Callaway called it “an old adage” when he spoke about a team never being as good as it looks at its best or as bad as it looks at its worst.
This was about trying to come to peace with who the 2018 Mets are after opening the season 12-2 and following that with a 7-16. This is one of those coming-to-peace moments. The Mets began Tuesday tied for the fewest games played in the majors (37), but it still is roughly the one-quarter mark, which brings with it reflection.
“I think we are somewhere in the middle, which is a pretty good team,” Callaway said.
