Terry Francona: Mets are 'getting a star' in Mickey Callaway

Indians manager Terry Francona spoke with SNY's Steve Gelbs today at the Winter Meetings and spoke highly of new Mets manager Mickey Callaway.

Callaway had been the Indians' pitching coach since 2013, the same year Francona was hired as manager.

"They're getting a star," Francona said. "He interviewed off the charts, he got the job and then a couple years later you feel like you're brothers ... That can only happen when guys are good at what they do."

Under Calloway's guidance, Cleveland's pitching staff posted an American League-best 3.30 ERA and never finished lower than seventh in his five seasons with the club.
