For now, Steven Matz’s season isn’t over. For now, he’s willing and physically able to pitch with the bone spur in his left elbow.
Thursday night, the left-hander from Long Island got back on the horse and was able to manage the pain, throwing 104 pitches in the Mets’ come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Cubs at Citi Field.
“It felt good. I was able to go out there and pitch with no issues,” Matz said. “I would say [it gave me] a little relief, but this is something I’ve been dealing with. I knew what to expect.
