Steven Matz feeling good after pitching through bone spur

For now, Steven Matz’s season isn’t over. For now, he’s willing and physically able to pitch with the bone spur in his left elbow.

Thursday night, the left-hander from Long Island got back on the horse and was able to manage the pain, throwing 104 pitches in the Mets’ come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Cubs at Citi Field.

“It felt good. I was able to go out there and pitch with no issues,” Matz said. “I would say [it gave me] a little relief, but this is something I’ve been dealing with. I knew what to expect.
