Shai Gilgeous-Alexander joins biggest active contracts in NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is getting paid.

The 26-year-old point guard signed a new four-year, $285 million super maximum contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources told ESPN on Tuesday. This gives him the largest annual salary in NBA history.

Gilgeous Alexander's extension comes off the back of an MVP season, one in which he led the Thunder to their first NBA title. He's the first player to lead the NBA in scoring and win an NBA championship in the same season since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000.

Here's how Gilgeous-Alexander's benchmark deal stacks up with others throughout sports.
