Ron Darling slated to return to broadcast booth after cancer scare

After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, Ron Darling will return to the broadcast booth on Tuesday when the Mets face the Giants at Citi Field.

Darling, a lead analyst for SNY and Turner, has been out since the middle of April after having surgery to remove a mass on his chest. The prognosis after the surgery was that the cancer was treatable.

Darling, 58, has been considered one of the better analysts in the game. Besides working with Keith Hernandez and Gary Cohen on Mets’ telecasts, he is TBS’s top game analyst in the MLB playoffs, which includes a League Championship Series.
