Robinson Cano finally hustles as Mets’ day gets weirder

Robinson Cano hit, and for once, ran.

The Mets’ most polarizing player these days turned Citi Field boos into cheers Monday, as he hustled out of the box for a double during the club’s game against the Washington Nationals.

Cano, who pinch-hit in the sixth after manager Mickey Callaway benched him in part for not running out a double play twice over the last three games, reportedly made it to second base in 8.43 seconds; his fastest double in three years, though still below the league average.
