New York Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard may have bone spurs in his elbow and is trying to avoid in-season surgery, according to the New York Daily News' Kristie Ackert.
Syndergaard allowed five runs, seven hits and three walks in three innings in the Mets' 11-4 loss to the Washington Nationals on Monday.
LHP Steven Matz was also diagnosed with bone spurs in his pitching elbow and his scheduled start on Wednesday is up in the air.
Both Matz and Syndergaard are looking to avoid in-season surgery. GM Sandy Alderson and the rest of the Mets organization are expected to come up with a plan of action for Matz on Tuesday.
