Report: Mets expect to acquire a reliever during Winter Meetings

The Mets expect to leave the Winter Meetings with a new reliever, reports Jon Heyman of FanRag, who notes that Bryan Shaw -- who is reportedly seeking at least a three-year deal and who the Mets have reportedly made an offer to -- remains high on their list of targets.

However, the Mets prefer to sign a reliever to a two-year deal -- meaning a pitcher such as Steve Cishek, Anthony Swarzak, or Tommy Hunter, and not Shaw, reports Joel Sherman of the NY Post, who noted the Mets could go higher on an average annual value of a potential two-year deal -- as the Cubs did for Brandon Morrow.
