The Mets will sign 1B Adrian Gonzalez pending a physical, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports also reported that the Mets and Gonzalez reached a deal. Nightengale had reported earlier that the Mets were engaged in "serious discussions" to acquire Gonzalez.
The Mets reached out to Gonzalez following his release from the Braves in December, ESPN's Buster Olney reported at the time. Gonzalez was traded from the Dodgers to the Braves in December, but was designated for assignment following the trade.
