Relief pitchers Jacob Rhame and Jamie Callahan, two prospects the Mets acquired in trades over the summer, are among the first players New York will promote, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, as major-league rosters expand to 40 players.
Rhame, whom the Mets acquired in the Curtis Granderson trade, struck out 66 batters in 54 innings and recorded a 4.00 ERA in 45 appearances this season at the Triple-A level. A 24-year-old RHP, Rhame is the Mets' No. 23 prospect.
Callahan, 23, is 6-3 with a 2.94 ERA in 41 appearances at the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season.
