PHOENIX — Six-man rotation controversies, a shocking back injury to the star player, position switches, a rocky road record, a shaky shortstop and yet another significant injury.
Somehow, the Mets are 30-25, one win better than the Yankees.
They lost Daniel Murphy to a quad injury in the third inning Thursday night against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field, but managed to come away with the 6-2 victory, a win built on the determination of Matt Harvey, who went seven strong innings, and a career night from John Mayberry Jr., whose two-run home run in the ninth gave them breathing room.
