The Mets honored their 2015 team one last time by raising a National League championship banner before Friday’s game. The Phillies then paid homage to the 1962 Mets during the contest.
The Phillies would have to rise two or three grades simply to reach bad. They are going to lose about 100 games this year, and it is vital to the Mets’ contention plan that 14 or 15 are against them.
The Mets were not particularly sharp in winning their home opener 7-2, but they weren’t in Kansas City any longer. The Mets’ schedule has been quirky and extreme so far, full of days off and possibly the majors’ best and worst teams.
