After starting at first base in all 99 games for the Mets so far this season, Pete Alonso is out of the lineup on Sunday against the Reds with a right-hand contusion. According to manager Carlos Mendoza, Alonso is day-to-day. felt discomfort early in Saturday’s game, and got X-rays following the game which were negative.
Alonso has started in 205 consecutive games for the Mets, and has played in a franchise-record 353 consecutive games. While Alonso may be available to pinch-hit on Sunday, the streak is nonetheless in jeopardy.
