Outslugged

After a rather ho-hum 6-1 Mets victory in game one of the weekend series, the Mets and Royals put a combined 18 runs on the board in the Saturday matinee. The Royals came out ahead this go round, however, as they continued their exciting start to the season by dropping 11 runs on the Mets, handing our beloved Metropolitans an 11-7 loss.

The Royals went up 1-0 in the first on Sean Manaea — who categorically did not have it today — on a Nelson Velázquez single. The Mets struck back for three in the bottom of the first; the first on a Pete Alonso single, the second when Brett Baty beat out a would be double play ball, and the third on a DJ Stewart double in the gap.
