LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Mets’ misery made for one of Mark Turgeon’s best nights.
Just before the season started for the Maryland coach, Turgeon, a Kansas native, was at Citi Field when the Royals clinched their first World Series title in 30 years.
A self-described “diehard” — who also witnessed their Game 7 win of the 1985 World Series — Turgeon moved up toward the field with his two sons to take pictures of the celebration in Queens after Game 5.
“By the end of the game, we were on the dugout, basically,” Turgeon said. “We were in the front row of the dugout because Mets fans started to leave.
