According to some of the latest New York Mets rumors, the big hold up on bringing back Edwin Diaz isn’t money but years. The Athletic’s Will Sammon profiled the situation, noting the team is checking in on alternatives Robert Suarez and Devin Williams.
It’s not bad for the Mets to circle some alternatives. However, for the length of the contract to be the hang-up, we can question them a little.
Diaz pitches next year at age 32 while Suarez will at 35. Naturally, you can tack on 3 years more for any Diaz deal and sell it because the contract ends at the same age.
