Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard (lat) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday and will begin a rehab assignment on Saturday for the GCL Mets, when he's expected to throw 1.0 inning.

Syndergaard long-tossed on Monday afternoon while rehabbing in Port St. Lucie.

The 25-year-old Syndergaard, who has been out since April 30, threw off a mound for the first time two weeks ago and told reporters his body "has never felt better."

Syndergaard had a 3.29 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in five starts (27 1/3 innings) before going on the DL, and has said he wants to pitch this season despite the fact that the Mets aren't in playoff contention.
