Noah Syndergaard will not have surgery this winter to remove the bone spur in his pitching elbow, Mets GM Sandy Alderson told reporters Monday.
Alderson made a similar statement this past summer.
Syndergaard, 24, received a cortisone shot the pain in his elbow earlier in the season, during which he went 14-9 with a 2.60 ERA.
According to FanGraphs.com, he averaged the highest velocity among big-league starting pitchers with his fastball (98.0 mph), slider (90.9 mph) and changeup (89.8 mph).
In 180 innings pitched, spanning 31 appearances, Syndergaard struck out 218 batters, which was the fourth-most in the National League.
