The New York Mets completed a series win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday with an 8-4 victory in D.C. It was the team’s second-straight series victory, as the Mets previously took two out of three in Philadelphia.
Zack Wheeler got the win for the Mets in the series finale against the Nats, pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and one earned run. Additionally, he struck out three batters and walked two. After the game, Wheeler addressed the team’s successful road trip (with the exception of Tuesday night’s ninth-inning blunder).
“We won those two series… anytime you can win a series it’s big,” Wheeler said, per Colin Martin of SNY.
