New York Mets lose Trevor Bauer to the Los Angeles Dodgers

The New York Mets, who were viewed as the favorites all along (especially in the last couple of days) lost the Trevor Bauer sweepstakes, as the free agent right-handed pitcher decided to join the Los Angeles Dodgers, reigning World Series champions, in a three-year contract.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported via Twitter that Trevor Bauer will get $102M for three years from Dodgers, citing a source. He has opt outs after each of the first two years; $40M in 2021, $45M in 2022. He’ll be the highest-paid player in MLB history in ’21, then again in ’22.
