The New York Mets and first baseman Dominic Smith have agreed to a one-year, $2.55 million agreement to avoid arbitration, sources confirmed to ESPN.
Smith, 25, hit a career-best .316 over 50 games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season while also contributing 10 home runs and a career-high 42 RBIs.
The 2013 first-round pick made his major league debut with the Mets in 2017 and has played 244 career games with a .258 batting average, 35 home runs and 104 RBIs.
The agreement was first reported by USA Today.
