Neil Walker and deGrom stop Mets’ bleeding in walk-off thriller

Sports

With Citi Field again serving as Crisis Central for the Mets’ starting pitching, situation, manager Terry Collins admitted seeing Jacob deGrom taking the ball on the mound is a welcome sight.

Especially in light of Matt Harvey’s team-imposed three-day suspension for a Saturday no-show.

And the recent partially torn lat injury suffered by Noah Syndergaard.

And the rehab status of both Steve Matz and Seth Lugo.

DeGrom wasn’t around to figure in the decision but he kept the Mets in it with 11 strikeouts through six innings, helping them overcome a frightful early display of leaving men on base in scoring position.
