Neck issue expected to sideline David Wright at least until Tuesday

NEW YORK -- New York Mets third baseman David Wright likely will not be available until Tuesday at the earliest. And that’s if his achy neck cooperates and the captain can avoid the disabled list.

Wright sat out a second straight game Sunday because of neck discomfort. Manager Terry Collins said Wright was prescribed oral anti-inflammatory medication that requires 48 hours to fully take effect. He continues to be evaluated by team doctors, but is unavailable for now.

“He’s feeling a little better today -- which they thought that would happen,” Collins said.
