MLB Rumor Central: Mets more open to Gourriel deal?

After scoring just four runs in three losses to the Atlanta Braves last weekend, the New York Mets may be more inclined to make a run at Cuban infielder Yulieski Gourriel.

The Mets are “weighing” Gourriel as a third base option and it “would appear to be a good fit at the moment,” tweets Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball.com.

With David Wright possibly out for the season following neck surgery, the Mets have been using Wilmer Flores at third base.

Owner Jeff Wilpon added to the sense of urgency at a Monday event honoring Commissioner Rob Manfred, telling Laura Albanese of Newsday: “I think we need to do something before (the deadline).
