RENO AT LAS VEGAS: Steven Matz allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 12 in seven innings. Matz sliced his ERA to 1.84. He threw 101 pitches. General manager Sandy Alderson said Thursday that he would love to see both Matz and Noah Syndergaard get some major league experience this season, but he wouldn't guarantee that it will happen.
