Mickey Callaway was completely wrong to pull Noah Syndergaard

Mickey Callaway referred to the rotation as the Mets’ strength yet again before Tuesday night’s series opener against the Giants and indicated how important it was for the starters to get on a consistent roll of excellence.

And there, a few hours later, was Noah Syndergaard on an excellent roll and the Mets manager was removing him from the game, leaving all to read lips and body language that both showed palpable disgust by Thor toward this decision.

“That’s one I would like to have back,” Callaway said afterward of his decision to pull Syndergaard.

It marked the second time in three games Callaway abandoned that strength he says he wants to see — the previous time Saturday with Jacob deGrom’s words and body language betraying objection and more toward his manager.
