Mickey Callaway rotation gambit pays immediate dividends

Score one for Mickey Callaway.

Splitting up Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard in the rotation is something the Mets hope will get them playing competitive baseball again, and it worked to perfection Friday night against the Diamondbacks at chilly Citi Field.

DeGrom matched a career high with 13 strikeouts in a masterful 3-1 win. He went seven innings, allowed one run on six hits and did not walk a batter. DeGrom raised his record to 4-0 and dropped his ERA to 1.75.

Keep this up and he will be on his way to the All-Star Game for the second time in his career.
