Mickey Callaway: No personal catcher for Jacob deGrom

MIAMI — Personal catcher, personal smatcher.

Though Jacob deGrom has largely struggled with Wilson Ramos as his target this season, manager Mickey Callaway on Saturday indicated he won’t go out of his way to pair backup Tomas Nido with the disappointing Mets ace.

DeGrom on Friday allowed seven runs over five innings with Ramos behind the plate in a loss to the Marlins. He is 3-5 with a 3.98 ERA in nine starts overall.

“Things aren’t going well enough for anybody to demand their own catcher,” Callaway said before the Mets’ 2-0 loss to the Marlins on Saturday.
