Michael Conforto to undergo surgery, likely out months

Mets OF Michael Conforto will undergo surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his shoulder.

According to NJ.com's Abbey Mastracco, Conforto will have his surgery with El Attrache in Los Angeles next week. The timetable for his recovery is unclear.

Mets doctors reportedly suggested Conforto undergo surgery, which would require an approximate recovery time of four to six months, according to the New York Daily News' Kristie Ackert.

Conforto suffered the injury on a swing in last Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While the recovery time doctors provided would not assure Conforto of being ready for spring training next February, the 24-year-old outfielder was scheduled to receive a second opinion, however the Mets do not anticipate their input will differ, according to Ackert.
