Michael Conforto leaves game after colliding with Robinson Cano

WASHINGTON — Another one bites the dust — or Robinson Cano’s shoulder, as it was.

Michael Conforto was forced to leave Thursday’s game against the Nationals after awkwardly colliding with Robinson Cano trying to catch a pop-up down the right field line in the fifth inning. The ball landed fair for a double as Conforto took Cano’s left shoulder to his face.

The Mets right fielder stayed down on the grass for a few seconds before getting up slowly. He tried to walk it off, but Mickey Callaway and trainer Brian Chicklo came out to check on him and after talking it over, he came out of the game.
