Mets waste solid night by Noah Syndergaard with walkoff loss

The Marlins' Miguel Rojas scores the winning run past Mets catcher Rene Rivera in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday.

MIAMI — Josh Edgin was one strike away from sending the Mets to extra innings for a second straight night, but J.T. Realmuto would have none of it.

The Marlins catcher smashed an RBI double against Edgin with two outs in the ninth inning Friday, ending the Mets’ winning streak at five games with a 3-2 loss at Marlins Park.

A night earlier, the two teams had played 16 innings over 5 hours, 38 minutes, depleting both bullpens and leaving key players on the bench for Friday’s game.
