Mets, Twins have interest in free agent 1B Mike Napoli

Mets manager Mickey Callaway has reached out to free agent Mike Napoli about the potential of joining the Mets, Joel Sherman of the NY Post reported earlier this week.

Along with the Mets, the Twins also have interest in Napoli, reports Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News.

Napoli played for the Indians in 2016 while Callaway was the pitching coach.

The 36 year-old Napoli hit .193/.285/.428 with 29 HR in 124 games for the Rangers in 2017 while being worth 1 DRS in 95 games at first base.

If acquired, the righty-hitting Napoli could be a potential platoon partner for Dominic Smith.
