With another season on the verge of collapse, the Mets will spend Saturday celebrating one of the proudest times in franchise history, as members from the 1969 championship team return to Queens for the 50th anniversary of the unforgettable season, which transformed a downtrodden laughingstock into baseball’s best team.

Before the game against the Braves, multiple players from the 1969 team will receive the key to the city from Mayor Bill de Blasio. Then, a special ceremony will take place — fans are asked to be seated by 3 p.
