Chase Utley won’t be able to hurt the Mets anymore.
The Dodgers second baseman, and longtime Mets nemesis, is planning to announce his retirement at a press conference Friday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported.
The 39-year-old has been limited to 130 plate appearances this year, because of injury, but the six-time All-Star has struggled when playing. Utley is hitting .231 with one home run this season.
Utley spent more than 12 of his 16 seasons with the Phillies, where he became baseball’s premier second baseman, and played a massive role in Philadelphia’s 2008 World Series title and 2009 World Series appearance.
