Mets’ Terry Collins briefly lost his mind on Wednesday

Mets manager Terry Collins said a few times before Wednesday that the criticism the Mets were getting from the fans and media for their slow start wasn’t warranted. Then he went out on Wednesday afternoon and let it impact the way he managed the game.

And even now that we have the color of Collins intimating postgame that he wanted to win on Wednesday at all costs — in the eighth game of the season — it’s still inexcusable that Jim Henderson entered a scoreless game in the seventh inning.

For one, Logan Verrett was sailing and at just 85 pitches.
