In what has become a daily occurrence, the Mets released a lengthy injury update on Monday, and outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and third baseman David Wright featured prominently.
The most ominous news was that Wright, who had been playing in minor league rehabilitation games in Florida, was shut down because of a recurrence of shoulder pain.
The shoulder injury became a problem in spring training as Wright was coming back from a neck operation he had in June 2016. Throwing without pain has been difficult for him. Wright also has a chronic back condition that limits him further.
