MIAMI — The Mets don’t believe the blister that knocked Steven Matz out of the game Sunday is serious enough to keep him from making his next start.
Matz, making his third major-league start, allowed two runs and four hits in 5.1 innings and did not get a decision in the Mets’ 4-3 loss to Miami at Marlins Park. He struck out six and walked two, throwing 51 of 81 pitches for strikes. He gave up a home run to Jeff Mathis.
“You could tell he was a little rusty in the first inning, but after that, I thought he threw the ball very, very well,” Terry Collins said.
