Mets RHP Zack Wheeler has no structural damage in elbow

The Mets delivered some positive news to fans Wednesday evening about the injuries that Yoenis Cespedes and Noah Syndergaard sustained during the game earlier in the day. The team took the opportunity to give us an update on Zack Wheeler’s progress as well after staying tight-lipped during Wednesday afternoon’s post-game presser.

After suffering elbow discomfort in his surgically-repaired elbow earlier in the week, an MRI was performed which showed no structural damage.

The doctors did diagnose Wheeler with sensory nerve irritation in his elbow, though, which explains the pain he was feeling. This sounds bad, but Wheeler was given a cortisone shot to aid in the recovery and is expected to resume his pitching routine once the discomfort in his elbow passes.
