Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes was "strongly considering" an offer from the Houston Astros before he re-signed with the Mets in November of 2016, which was one of the reasons why the Mets offered him a no-trade clause, reports John Harper of the New York Daily News.
Cespedes, who ultimately signed a four-year, $110 million contract, had a priority list consisting of three main factors, according to the report: He wanted to play with a contender; he sought a no-trade clause; and wanted to train near his ranch in Florida.
Furthermore, Cespedes did not enjoy playing for then-manager Terry Collins -- and that was said said to be a significant factor.
