Mets reliever Jerry Blevins slips on curb, refractures arm

MIAMI - This could only happen to the Mets.

Lefty reliever Jerry Blevins, who was rehabbing from a fractured left forearm, slipped off a curb on Monday and refractured the bone, according to the Mets. He is unlikely to pitch again this season, the team announced.

Blevins, who the Mets acquired in a spring training trade, pitched in seven games this season before he suffered a fractured forearm when he was hit by a line drive during a game at Citi Field on April 19. The 31 year old had begun a throwing program.

He will likely undergo surgery in Boston next week to repair the arm.
