Ahead of this afternoon’s game against the Reds, the Mets recalled right-handed reliever Kevin Herget and, in a corresponding move, optioned left-hander Brandon Waddell to Triple-A Syracuse.
Herget, a Bergen County, New Jersey native, is on his third stint with a big-league club this season, having pitched in one game on April 29th and another on July 1st for the Braves, for whom he was briefly a member, having been claimed off waivers in May before electing free agency and signing again with the Mets. Over three big league innings this season, Herget has thrown three innings, given up two earned runs, walked two and struck out one.
