SAN DIEGO — The Mets aren’t necessarily finished in trying to upgrade their outfield.
Jake Marisnick’s arrival from the Astros last week provided team officials with a level of comfort about the situation, given his defensive ability, but industry sources indicated Monday the Mets could look toward further improvement, more likely through the trade market than free agency.
To that end, the Mets were expected to speak with the Pirates about Starling Marte, an industry source said Tuesday at the winter meetings, with the idea of bringing another right-handed bat into the equation.
